Jochum, do you mean alpha is accepting the hypothesis when you shouldn't have, and beta is rejecting the hypothesis when you should have?

Jochum,

Did you ever come across the work of the biologist dr. Rupert Sheldrake (www.sheldrake.org) and his concepts of morphic fields and morphic resonance? I did not study his theory in detail, but it offers a concept to explain the "entanglement" of individuals (humans and other living beings) that are separated a long way in distance and time.
Many years ago I attended a lecture of him in de Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam, which included many examples of "entanglement" across space and time. I remember the example of the returning pattern of behaviour of dogs in anticipation of the arrival of their owner, even if the arrival time of the owner was changed randomly. It was one of a number of experiments that he was performing and planning to "proof" his theory. I believe you can find many more examples of "entanglement" in his work.
